Sherry Castro, after a courageous 2 year battle with breast cancer, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at The Houston Methodist Hospital Texas Medical Center.
Sherry was born on August 31, 1965, in Cebu City, Philippines. She was the daughter of Erlina P Castro and the late Reece A Castro. She graduated from University of Houston-Downtown in 1994 with a Degree in Business Administration. For over 10 years, she worked as the Visual Merchandiser for The Container Store/Galleria, where she enjoyed and loved her time there. Sherry was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Detroit, Michigan. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Houston.
Sherry was a kind and gentle soul, who was incredibly thoughtful and fiercely loyal to all she knew. She loved to travel. Her last visit to the Philippines in 2012 was one she especially enjoyed and had hoped to go back one more time. She also enjoyed cooking, and listening to contemporary jazz. She loved animals especially her pups Sophie and Jack. Sherry was happy spending time with her family and friends.
She leaves behind her loving mother, Erlina; and loving sisters, Ruby Castro and Debbie Castro; and a multitude of cousins and aunts locally and nationally in the US and internationally in The Philippines.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Oncologists and staff at the Houston Methodist Cancer Center in The Texas Medical Center; and everyone at The Container Store Galleria who have been a loving family and amazing supporters from the very beginning.
