Roger Fuller

ROGER FULLER, 74, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013, of congestive heart failure. He is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Denisa, her husband Earl and their children: Robert, Catherine, and Chloe; grandson Randy, his wife Sasha and their children; granddaughters Megan and Brittany and their families; nephew John and his daughter Sabrina and her family; other family, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Robert, mother Loretta, sister Ann, and daughter Cindy.

A former naval aviator, Roger worked in the geophysical industry for several years and traveled the globe. After retiring from the geophysical industry, he used his entrepreneurial talents to start and run several successful businesses ranging from golf cart coolers to tax services to custom golf clubs. Roger had a dry wit, a gift for telling stories, and a deep love of family, friends, and life.

Since retiring and in between his various businesses, Roger pursued golf with a purpose unsurpassed by any. One year he boasted of playing 300 rounds of golf. Roger was on a quest for the Holy Grail of golf, the Perfect Swing, seeking advice from coaches (many of whom became personal friends), DVDs and books. He participated in the annual World Amateur Handicap Championship Tournament in Myrtle Beach, winning his flight twice. He was one of only eleven people who played in the tournament for 30 straight years and formed friendships with many of the regular players. He was a long-time member of the Pecan Grove Plantation Country Club.

The family wishes to thank the CCU staff at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center for their care and dedication during the last three weeks.

A celebration of Roger’s life will be held Friday, October 4, 4:00 pm, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, TX, 77478 (Williams Trace Exit). A reception follows immediately at Linda and Roger’s home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
