Rodolfo Martinez

Rudy was a graduate of Corpus Christi Minor Seminary. He later went on to graduate with his Bachelor’s in Accounting from Corpus Christi State University in 1980. Once he graduated, he moved to Houston, Texas to pursue a career with the State Comptroller of Public Accounts where he worked as an Oil and Gas Auditor for 37 years. While working with the state, Rudy completed many large audits with some of the world’s most notable oil and gas companies. Rudy was well known and respected in the oil and gas industry. In addition to his successful career, Rudy was very close to the church and a 4th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus. While a very accomplished man, he always made time for his loving family. Rudy coached his children, Emma and Jose, in softball and baseball. He loved being at the field with his kids. When the family wasn’t playing baseball, they would enjoy watching the Astros and Skeeters baseball teams play, but a weekend was not complete without some Dallas Cowboys and Sunday Night Football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cip and Emma Martinez, his mother and father-in-law, Josephine and Vicente DeLaGarza, along with many cousins. Rudy is survived by his wife, Patsy, his son Jose Martinez, daughter and son-in-law Emma and Stephan Espinoza of Sugar Land, brother and his wife Joe and Guille Martinez along with their children David, William and Cecilia of San Antonio, brother and his wife, Thomas and Dee Martinez and their son TJ and his children Mia and RayAnn of Rockport, and an abundance of family and friends. Rudy was well cared for by his doctors at Methodist of Sugar Land, Texas Home Health Care and Silverado Home Hospice in his final days. The family is forever grateful for the care that Rudy was given during his time with them.

Visitation will be held on May 10, 2021 at 5:00 pm at The Settegast-Kopf Company @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX. Rosary Service will be held on May 10, 2021 at 7:00 pm at The Settegast-Kopf Company @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX. Funeral Service will be held on May 11, 2021 at 10:00 am at St Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land, TX. Graveside Service will be held on May 11, 2021 at 12:30 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX.
