As I sat watching my father-in-law's funeral, I wondered why he did not have more people mourning his passing.  I have often heard that you can judge a man by the number of people that attend his funeral.  I noted the obvious, which was that it was a work day and that maybe most of his own friends could not attend.  Maybe most of his friends had already passed.  

However, the truth is probably more telling.  Mr. Grasmeder had dedicated his life to his family.  He dedicated his life to his wife and children.  He spent as much time as he could with the people that he loved.  Not that he did not love his friends; there is just a special bond with your immediate family.  

I can only hope that I make as much of an impact on my family as Mr. Grasmeder did with his family.  All the people that meant the most to him...where at his side the day he passed.   On my desk I have a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson.  In part, it reads, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived...is to suceed."   Mr. Grasmeder succeeded in life.  How can you ask for more?  I will miss Mr. Grasmeder.  He was a very good man.

Having worked with Bob several times over the years I remember Bob above all was a very nice person.  He was an innovative engineer and always had an idea to make things better.  

We talked about many things over the years with Bob bringin up his wife and family and all that was going on, including his fish pond.  

He will be missed by many for sure.  With sympathy and prayers.

Ed knew Bob longer than I did as they worked together at Brown & Root (B&R).  I met Bob & Lana, Matt & Mindy, when all of us went to dinner when Ed hired Bob.  I did not see them again until we moved and Ed discovered that we lived on the same street as they lived on.  We have been very good friends ever since.  We have done many things together including a trip that all of us thoroughly enjoyed and always said that we would do again, however, we never got around to it in the 24 years that we have known  each other.  Our friendship was the kind that we could call on each other even in the middle of the night for help.  We watched each others homes when we were gone, shared happy times and not so happy times together.  We have been through Bob's illness with the Parkinson's disease with them and have helped Bob & Lana out throughout the course of this awful disease.  Bob will be missed a lot by us and by many other people, he was a very fine man.

Sad news to hear of Bob's passing.  I worked with Bob for more than 10 years during the ExxonMobil projects (Rabbit, Hercules & Eclipse).  Bob was a good Machinery Specialist who had good knowledge of butyl rubber and the implementation of EM technology.  We all had good times together with the "Gras-man" (one of the nicknames we'd share).  A fine Engineer; he will be missed.  Thanks Bob!

I have known the Grasmeder’s since the day Mindy and I started St. Edward's College and were placed together as roommates.  That is the day that I not only gained a dear friend but a wonderful loving extended family.  Through our college life ups and downs and now married with families of our own, my memories continue to be filled with good times…from watching soccer, to taking care of Squirt, eating at Threadgills, and spending time with you all when I'd visit Houston.   

My heart and love goes out to you all.  
I will miss you "Dad", your memory will always be in my heart and I will continue to hold my promise and always be there for Mindy. Love your "other" daughter, Elida

My condolences go out the Grasmeder family in this time of loss. Bob was a really nice guy that I had worked with in Baytown. We will miss him.

     We have known the Grasmeders since we moved across the street from them in 1976.  They have been wonderful neighbors!  Franklin and I have enjoyed Matt and Mindy as they grew up with our children.  Bob was always there when we needed him.  He was so great in watching our house when we were
gone as well as bringing in our mail and paper.  Sometimes he even had to feed our cat.  We loved Bob very much and will miss him a great deal.
