It was very special when Uncle Bart came to visit Hawaii in 2018 and got to meet my oldest son Max. They are kindred spirits and it made my heart so happy to see them together. It was also very special to me, since Uncle Bart and I were both born in Hawaii at the same pink hospital. He will always be in my heart ❤ (and yes, he is holding a toad... by a stream in Hawaii) 

Every hug from Uncle Bart made me feel so special and loved. He always made me feel like I was cherished and called me a princess. Growing up, I was so proud of my Uncle Bart and bragged about how he was a police officer and a cowboy. As the first niece, he was protective of me in such a loving way. After I was engaged, my dad was out of town, so Uncle Bart stepped in to do the official "husband screening" before we got married. That included testing my future husband (a city boy) on the most rascally horse, seeing how he did handling a gun, and making sure he knew how to treat me right (otherwise he would have to deal with the 4 Brothers). I was so grateful to have all of my uncles at my wedding. I loved seeing the 4 brothers light up when they saw each other, egg each other on, and turn into their goofy selves together. Their love as brothers has inspired me in so many ways over the years. As a mom of two young boys, I pray that my sons can grow up loving each other as much as the Catlett brothers. I pray that I can live and love others the way my Uncle Bart did.

When I heard of Bart's passing several memories and emotions came over me. I've tried to think of what all I could say, but the one thing that keeps popping up in my head is what a great role model he was to all of us Ellis kids. I can speak for my brother and sister and say without a doubt, we all loved and admired Bart. He shaped each of our lives by being the genuine, friendly, and uplifting influence he was to us and every other kid/teen at Living Hope. I know my brother would say he shaped his appreciation for playing the guitar. My sister would say he influenced her singing/worship style period. We all would say he showed us what a God-serving husband, father, and friend truly looks like. 

I know it has been several years since we went to church together, but please know the memories we have of you all and Bart are forever. We still bring you guys up in conversation and discuss how we want to be more like Bart and Amy when it comes to our own families. We love you guys so much and think the world of you still to this day. Sending so much love, hugs, prayers, and support to you all.

We have heard about your loss and wanted to send our condolences. Bart is an amazing man, husband, father & friend. Our hearts go out to your family. 

One of my favorite memories of Uncle Bart was back in the summer of 2012. I was home for the summer and was hanging out with Bart and my dad (Cory) after they had gotten back from a hot day of riding. We were sitting by the fire pit after dark with the horses. After some talking and catching up they pulled out a couple of guitars and started playing. They'd close their eyes remembering the notes while one of us would come up with the words to the old hymn or lullaby.  The small fire we sat around glowed and crackled with the music. I remember the light smell of smoke and their little clearing of trees being lulled to sleep by the brothers' songs. I will always remember Bart as the Cowboy, Policeman, and Father he was.

I had the privilege of meeting Bart in the summer of 2020 at the Glidden Baptist Men's group study. I only knew him for a short time, but his humility and honesty shone as he spoke about his walk and faith in Christ. 
His actions and words demonstrated his love of his God, his family, and his country. He cared deeply for those he encountered with a sincerity that is uncommon among men today. I thank God that He brought Bart and I together even for such a short time. Bart was used by God to encourage and strengthen my faith when it was sorely needed. 
May Bart's wife and children rest in the fact that he is in the presence of the Savior that he loves so very much. What joy he must be experiencing! I know we will see Bart again someday when Christ calls us home to be in His presence. May we glorify God with our lives as Bart did in humility and service to others. See you soon, Brother!

Amy and precious daughters, I am so saddened to hear of Bart's passing.  I know from visiting with you, Amy,  that you and Bart and the girls had such amazing strength as you all went through Bart's illness.  Your strong faith and love of God will help you through these difficult times.  Even when Amy's family was going through this extremely difficult time, she offered such comforting words and support to others who were going through tough times.  The Catlett family is an amazing little bunch.  Amy, my dear, dear friend, my heart aches for you.

I met Bart at All Around Cowboy Church. My ex-wife and I used to sit on the 3rd row behind Bart and Amy and all his girls. 
We immediately seemed to be friends. He even gave me an HPD shoulder patch, while we were dressed as Angels, for a play the Church put on. (Bart was the Head Golden Angel with me and his younger brother as 2 other Angel's. I have a pic of the 3 of us doing the "Charlie's Angels" pose. Lol)
He ALWAYS was in good humor and positive. He will be missed.

I have known Bart for over 20 years and have always been so impressed with his faith in God and love for his family, I can't even begin to imagine what you his family is going thru. I first met Amy in 1991 when you were still doing physical therapy.
I met Bart when he joined our American Legion Post in Columbus.
Not only are we all Veteran Brothers, but with Bart, you become an instant friend!  Any conversation with Bart was always direct and to the point, mixed with honesty and sincerity.
Rest in Peace Brother.
May God bring Peace and Comfort to Amy and the family.

I remember Mr. Bart growing up at the church Living Hope here in Eagle Lake, he was so cool and always happy and in a good mood. He was a GREAT FATHER/HUSBAND. We always had a good time during VBS he was The Best! He always had good stories to tell us. You will truly be missed Mr. Bart.

I cannot believe that Bart is gone, this was a complete shock to me this morning when Cory informed me. Bart, Cory, my wife and I had several great days riding horses for miles in the summers all through Cat Spring and Mentz and are some of the greatest memories I have in recent memory. Every cemetery we would ride past Bart would always remove his hat and not say a word, this was the caliber of man we lost and he will be truly missed. One of the last cowboys, a gentleman, and salt of the earth. 

Thank you for all the fun times and smiles.

Hey Amy I remember when he used to come to church ,right after working nights and he looked sooo sleepy BUT he was there🙏Love ya and praying for ya 💕 from Jesse,Martha,Jessica,Caden n Noah(her boys) Angela,Adrian,Ethan,Karla, AJ and Elijah(their kids) and Aaron🙏😪

Bart is  the best guy to be around! He has a huge bright smile that lit up a room! He is very special to Josh and I and will be greatly missed ❤️ Bart and Amy are so kind and a joy to be around . We enjoyed spending time with them when we could and shared their love to ride motorcycles. We like to think of him rejoicing with the Lord right now to ease our sadness.

I had many good times with Bart when we were young. I was fortunate to see him again at his niece's wedding a while ago in Colorado. I know Bart was a wonderful person and my heart goes out to his family.  Love to all the Catletts. We were blessed to have Bart in this world. God bless.

I was so sad to loose a good friend and Brother.   Bart's love for God, his church and his family was so impressive and he passed it on to all who knew him.  Rode many of miles with Bart and his brothers.  Bart had so much love for God, his county and his fellow Veterans. 
If you ever needed help, Bart was always there.   Pray for God to comfort  Amy, his daughters and his family.

Bart’s smile, warmth, genuine care, faith in God, deep love for his beautiful family, and the way he cherished his friends has been a blessing to me and many others.   Always had a moment to listen, and help people with deep issues.  Never saw him mad, his gentle nature isn’t common amongst the population, truly one of a kind.   I’m so thankful for each moment of time I had with Bart.  When he spoke of his beautiful wife, Amy, you could tell how much his heart was wrapped around her and his family, of course they were his second love, his first being God, our father!   I would be a liar if I denied how incredibly sad I am at his passing.   The fact that he is in Heaven, his wings have grown, and he is now an Angel watching out for his family, and friends.  I want to thank God for letting me know such an amazing man.  He showed me what a loving family man and caring friend can be!  God, please carefully take care of him, he will be deeply missed!!!  Love you Catlett family!

In honor of my cousin Bart whom I have known forever I can think of so many wonderful words to describe him. Man of faith,  kind, loving, humble, gentle, peaceful, loyal, strong, steadfast, smart, unique sense of humor, of which all are the fruit of God’s Spirit within him. To know Bart was to love him. He always reminded me of his precious  mother Deenie and I smile knowing she welcomed him back into her loving arms at heaven’s gate. Say hello to all our family until we join you! Cousin Linda

I am greatly saddened by his passing but joyful in knowing where he is today. Bart always said that us old guys were mentors for him but in actuality Bart was our mentor. His strong faith in God, his Biblical family values, his joy, love, energy and love of life were a great example for us all. He will be missed but we will meet again as he is biking with the Saints.

I remember meeting Bart and Amy the first time as they visited a Highway Disciples CMA meeting in Katy.  I was so excited to see someone from "home".  A man who became so much more than just another neighbor.  Bart was instrumental in starting and growing the Highway Servants CMA chapter in Columbus.  I am so thankful to The Father for sending Bartolo my way!  I received a tremendous blessing when Bart invited me to ride with him and Toby up to Hugo, OK to say goodbye to their uncle.  Not only did I get to spend quality time with their uncle talking about God and Jesus and life, I got to meet the family as well.  Then, I got to watch THE WARRIOR come out as God orchestrated some spiritual warfare at our hotel.  My, My, My.  I am looking SO FORWARD to seeing my Brother again!  Thank You God (and Amy!) for sharing Bart with us for a while!!

I had the privilege of training Bart when he joined the Houston Police Department.   He was an incredibly kind man who genuinely cared about others.  I’ll never forget my conversation with him when he got his diagnosis last year.  He was not depressed, but amazingly upbeat.  He had no fear of meeting his Lord and Savior!  Prayers to Amy and his children.  Rest In Peace brother.

Bart I can never express my gratitude for the advice you used to give me re:horses, policing and just life in general. I’ll never forget the night of hurricane Harvey riding around  in the back of the truck with you all night ..I know 100% you’re in a better place now and not in pain anymore. I will miss your whistling and your humor and wisdom. Love ya buddy.
