Born December 31, 1961 Des Plaines, Illinois
Passed April 7, 2021 Missouri City, Texas at 59 years of age
She is survived by her Husband Michael Nelson Poling, her Son Matthew Nelson Poling and her father George Soberski, brothers Brian, Stephen and Richard Soberski and sisters Deborah Weigand and Susan Soberski.
Born on New Years Eve 1969 in Des Plaines Illinois, she was the 6th of what would be 7 children to George and Charlotte Soberski. She grew up with her large family and after high school at the age of 17 she moved to Dallas, Texas with her mother. One day while poolside enjoying the sun as she’s always loved to do, she met her husband to be, Michael. That moment locked in her future as a beautiful and loving wife, and mother of Matthew. Patty and Michael would spend their earliest years living in Dallas, Sebring Florida, and San Diego California, traveling and exploring the country side. Eventually they found their way to Minneapolis, Minnesota where for a dozen years they’d settle down to start their family. She always put her family before all else. Selflessly, and tirelessly working to provide and take care of her son and Husband. Her huge heart, and endless capacity for love and understanding profoundly shaped who her son would become, and ultimately her family too. Every year at Christmas time she would pour her imagination and soul into bringing the whole huge family together, and decorating the house from top to bottom. Come 1998 Patty, Michael, and Matthew moved to Houston, Texas to begin a new chapter in their lives. Here she discovered her talent as an artist. She began working with stained glass and quickly picked it up to become an incredibly talented artist, making dozens of unique and gorgeous pieces of art. She’d continue her artistic passions and create jewelry, paintings, stitched works, beaded bracelets and many other uniquely beautiful things. Her compassion extended beyond the family as well. While not needing to work, she enjoyed being with people and would take on jobs to allow this. Whether she was working as a bank teller, a school lunch lady, school bus driver, or sales rep at Home Depot she had a way with people of all ages, but was especially good with children. The children in the neighborhoods wherever she lived always came to her house yelling, Miss Patty, Miss Patty! She played mother to a generation of kids. Her legacy of love, passion, art, creativity, and joy will live on in all those who’s hearts she’s touched over the years and her sense of humor and fun loving personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
