Mary Christine Abbott, cherished wife, mother, sister and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2023. Born on February 21, 1953, Mary lived a life defined by her unwavering love, grace and devotion to her family and friends.
Married to the love of her life, Michael D. Abbott, Mary was the backbone of their enduring bond. She raised five extraordinary children: Michael Gonzalez, Rebecca Barrientos, Philip Gonzalez, Matthew Abbott, and Cody Abbott. Through ups and downs, joys and challenges, Mary's strength and guidance shaped their lives, ensuring they felt loved and valued every day.
Mary was also like a second mother to her daughters in law: Liz Gonzalez, Stephanie Bazan, Jen Batton, Jasmine Abbott, and son in law Luis Barrientos. Mary is also survived by 14 grandchildren with whom she adored and loved spending time with: Benjamin Gonzalez, Braeden Batton, Blake Gonzalez, Christopher Gonzalez, Mason Gonzalez, Bryson Batton, Jaxon Gonzalez, Kenny Barrientos, Nathan Gonzalez, Kay Barrientos, Kinsley Barrientos, Bastian Abbott, Elena Abbott, and Sage Abbott. She welcomed each of them into her family with open arms, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, long phone calls and countless memories.
Throughout her 70 years, Mary's generosity extended beyond the confines of her home. She devoted herself to the Schoenstatt Catholic Movement at an early age, learning ways to love and serve the Lord and the Blessed Mother.
Mary had a radiant smile, compassionate spirit, and ability to connect deeply with those around her, and left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She embodied a unique blend of strength and softness, teaching us that kindness is a force more powerful than any other.
Her legacy of love, courage, and resilience will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Though the world feels emptier without her presence, we take solace in knowing that Mary's spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
As we remember and celebrate Mary, we are reminded of the lessons she instilled in us: to cherish every moment, to love fiercely, family first, and to always find the light even in the darkest times.
A rosary service in Mary's honor will be held at The Settegast-Kopf Co @ Sugar Creek (15015 Southwest Freeway Sugar Land, Texas, 77478) October 12 at 6pm where afterwards family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and pay tribute to this incredible woman. Her funeral mass will be held October 13 at 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church (1510 5th St, Missouri City, Texas, 77489). Immediately following mass, we will process to Morton Cemetery (900 Morton St. Richmond, Texas, 77469) for the burial ceremony.

Rest in peace, and join your loving parents Amado and Victoria in heaven, Mary. Your love and light will forever shine in our hearts and not a day will go by where something doesn’t remind us of you.
