Larry moved to Houston at a young age and graduated from Smiley High School in 1962 Other than family, especially the four that called him Granddad, he was always loved by a furry friend. He absolutely loved dogs and they were much comfort and company to him. He had a special connection with animals and always had a dog (or two) at his side.
He was always a gentleman. Larry was kindhearted, good natured and really enjoyed being around other people. He would do anything to help others and his generosity and kindness was remembered. All that knew him, enjoyed being around him and thought he was a very sweet man. He had a great sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes. Simply stated, he enjoyed life and brought joy to everyone he met.
As an adult he worked in the oil and gas business for many years. After leaving that industry, he had many different jobs until he found something he truly loved where he could interact with and be around people in the field of retail. He operated a collectible business and was quite successful for 17 years.
The memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2016 in The Morrow Chapel at The Settegast-Kopf Co Funeral Directors with a reception to follow the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org or S.A.V.E. Rescue Coalition that aids animal rescue groups in Houston at www.saverescue.org.
