Born Linda Carol Capra in Duluth, Minnesota on January 2, 1948 to Donald J. and Virginia M. Capra.
Linda married James W. Smith in Duluth on July 11, 1970. She accompanied him half way around the world and back, finally settling in Sugar Land in 1975 where she raised and nurtured her family.
Linda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who led her family with unconditional love, strength, poise and a fierce protectiveness. She loved little things and took great pleasure in sharing them with her family. She loved cookbooks and bringing family together around her table. She loved listening to music, delighting in watching the expressions on the faces of those she shared it with. She loved going shopping, always with the needs and desires of her family in mind. She loved visiting with family and friends and truly enjoyed hearing about the day-to-day things in the lives of those she loved. She took nothing for granted and saw each day as a gift. Her genuine smile and honest laughter marked her joy for life, a candle whose flame will always burn bright in the hearts of those who loved her.
Linda is survived by her husband of 52 years James W. Smith; her daughter Virginia S. McElvany (Robert L. McElvany); her daughter Carolyn R. Smith; her son Donald W. Smith; her granddaughter Lindsey A. McElvany; her grandson Brandon J. McElvany; her brother John J. Capra (Cathy Capra); her brother Donald J. Capra (Renee Capra) and many cousins; nieces and nephews.
