August 17, 1952 - June 10, 2024
Joseph D. Hanley Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 10, 2024. Born on August 17, 1952, to Joseph Hanley Sr. and Patricia Maher, Joe was the cherished middle child, with two sisters, Judith Farrell and Joan Moore.
Joe’s academic journey was extraordinary, marked by 16 years of Catholic education at Our Lady of Victory in Floral Park, NY, Archbishop Molloy in Queens, NY, St. John’s University, and C.W. Post - Long Island University, where he earned two master's degrees.
A dedicated professional, Joe served as a Health Care Administrator at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY, and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, before retiring.
On August 23, 1980, Joe married the love of his life, Anne Marie Behan. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Eric, Kevin, and JoAnna (who sadly passed away on May 22, 2012). Joe is now joyfully reunited with his daughter in Heaven. He was a proud grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren: Ben, James, Teddy, and Kenzie.
Joe was a multitalented man whose skills ranged from rebuilding homes to being a computer whiz, having built his first computer, a Timex Sinclair, in 1980. His passion for model railroading brought joy and countless memories to his family, with a dedicated train room always present in their homes.
Joe's legacy is defined by his love, cheerfulness, and compassion. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his family finds comfort in knowing he is with JoAnna.
