September 4, 1959 – December 7, 2022
Helen was preceded by her parents, Douglas Gene and Gay Elizabeth (Terrell) Robertson. Survived by her husband, Dennis James McLane and two sons, Jonathan Lynn McLane and Cullen Rhys McLane, as well as siblings, Marion (Michael) Krause, Anna Robertson, Thom (Andra) Robertson, and niece, Mozelle (Stuart) Caswell, along with numerous other extended family members.
Helen was a native Houstonian, being born at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Her father’s career with Boeing, attached to NASA for the Apollo Rocket program, meant that the family moved a great deal and each sibling was born in a different state. After Helen was in three different schools for one grade, the decision was made to move back to Houston and settle down permanently.
Helen graduated from the Alief School System, attended the University of Houston and worked for several companies before being hired in the Tax Department of KPMG-Pete Marwick as a data entry clerk. She spent almost four decades at KPMG and worked her way up until her final position, Director of IT for North America – a feat that she was immensely proud of.
Helen was an avid reader, mostly of murder mysteries, science fiction and numerous other genres. She dabbled in painting, when she could find the time. Her pride and joy was her family and spending as much time as she could with them.
Helen was an intensely private person and was not on any social media. Only those closest to her knew of her diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer. She fought hard, along with her medical teams, to eradicate the cancer, and we fought hard to protect her from Covid, Flu and every other illness that would have been detrimental to her progress.
She passed away the morning of December 7th with Dennis, Jon, Cullen and Anna by her bedside.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 4th from 2 to 4pm.
