Eugene John Piekenbrock, 74, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 21, 1950, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Ben and Helen Piekenbrock, Eugene lived a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished moments.
Eugene was a true outdoorsman, finding joy and peace in nature. He loved fishing and camping, and was always ready for a spontaneous weekend getaway to Galveston with his beloved wife, Harlene. He also held a deep fascination with treasure hunting, particularly the mysteries of Oak Island.
Eugene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Helen Piekenbrock. He leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Harlene Piekenbrock; his daughters, Susan Savelli and Charlotte Hull; his son, Michael Hunepohl; his cherished grandchildren, Johnny Hunepohl, Connor Hash, Ashley Baker, and Brayden Hull; and his siblings, Caroline Chouinard, Theresa Savage, Mary Beth Piekenbrock, Lawrence Piekenbrock, Richard Piekenbrock, and Joseph Piekenbrock.
Eugene will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his adventurous spirit, and his unwavering devotion to his family. His warm smile and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Morrow Chapel of The Settegast-Kopf Co. at Sugar Creek, located at 15015 Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land. A Service of Remembrance will begin at 2:00 p.m. Following the service, the family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a catered reception in the event room.
