CONSTANCE “CONNIE” MAE BOSWELL LAIR, 80, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011. She was born in Chanute, Kansas, on February 13, 1931, but spent most of her time growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska, with siblings Marian and Wesley. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949, and from the Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She met her husband, Dean, while he was a student at the University of Nebraska. Dean was staying at a boardinghouse a block from the hospital and often watched the nursing school softball games. Being too small to play softball, Connie was the official scorekeeper. A friend arranged a blind date between the two, and it was then that Connie met and married her husband of 59 years. She and Dean married at First Christian Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, on October 4, 1952. Cheryl was born in 1954, and then Ken was born three years later. Dean’s job with ARMCO Steel moved the family to Houston in 1960. They were active members of Pasadena First Methodist Church for 19 years before moving to Missouri City, and becoming active members of First United Methodist Church for 32 years. Connie volunteered at the local community hospital, and also at the church as the receptionist. She was a member of the church Craft Club and the Open Hearts Sunday School Class. She was a talented painter and craftswoman, excelling at quilting, needlepoint, and crochet. Connie will be forever remembered for her outstanding pecan brittle that was generously passed out every Christmas. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Lila Boswell; brother, Wesley; and grandson, Ryan Lair. She leaves behind husband, Dean; daughter, Cheryl Aguilar and grandsons, Nic and Eric; son, Ken Lair and his wife Theresa, and grandchildren, Steven and Allison; grandson Matt Lair and his wife Cerissa; great-grandson, Knox; and sister, Marian Hudson.
