Chris is survived by his daughter Kristin Trindle and husband Richard of Knoxville, Tennessee; his daughter Dr. Kerry Annette Laursen and husband Karl Greb of Sugar Land, TX; his daughter Katrina Misley of Concord, New Hampshire; and his four beloved grandchildren, Andrew Greb, Zoey Greb, Cora Misley and Isaac Misley. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Cynthia Laursen.
Chris was born on April 30, 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Chris and Etta Laursen. Throughout his childhood, he lived in Oklahoma at Ft. Sill, Japan, and Alaska. He graduated from Oklahoma State University, with a masters degree in Electrical Engineering. He was first lieutenant in the US Army Signal Corp, and served in Vietnam during the war from 1966 to 1967. He worked for, and eventually managed, the power plant in Amarillo, TX for over 25 years. As a young engineer at the plant, he was tasked with leading a sixth grade class on their field trip; the class’s teacher was a pretty lady named Cynthia (Cindy) Looney. He married her on November 21, 1971. The couple continued to live in Amarillo, where they welcomed their three daughters, Kristin, Kerry, and Katrina. In 2006, Chris and Cindy moved to Missouri City, TX.
Chris’s hobbies included riding his bike every morning, repairing cars and things around the home, and researching his ancestry (his father was the son of Danish immigrants). His greatest love was providing for and taking care of his children and grandchildren, who called him “Beskie”.
A funeral is scheduled for 10 am on Tuesday, July 11th at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land, TX. Visitation will be held the evening before the funeral, from 6 to 7 pm, at the Settegast-Kopf Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Chris's life.
