Charles Bernard Rosenthal was born November 19, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Kittie Mae Marshall Rosenthal and David Kline Rosenthal. He passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023. Charles grew up in Fort Worth TX with his sister Aline Rosenthal Thomas. He attended the University of Texas and Texas Christian University graduating in 1958 with a double major in math and physics. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.
On September 27, 1958, he married Helen Bea Olvey Rosenthal at St. John the Divine in Houston. They shared almost 65 years of marriage and had 2 daughters: Linda Rosenthal Elkin and Karen Rosenthal Watkins. Charles worked for National Supply Company for 30 years retiring with the title of Director of Sales for Southeast Asia. Charles and his family lived in many different places including: Pennsylvania, Wyoming, several cities in Texas, Oklahoma, California, and Singapore. But since 1981, he and Helen have lived in Sugar Land, Texas. Charles was an avid golfer, sometimes playing as many as 36 holes in a day until he was sidelined with a shoulder injury 20 years ago. He enjoyed traveling and a good card game, and he was a fervent dog lover.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Kittie, his father, David, his sister Aline Thomas and brother-in-law Dillard Thomas. He is survived by his wife Helen, and his daughters Linda (Jeff) and Karen (Tom). He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Sarah Elkin Connelly (Mac), David Elkin (Jessica Hines), Madeline Watkins, and Emily Watkins as well as two great-grandchildren: Jade Marquez and Delaney Connelly.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at The Settegast-Kopf Co @ Sugar Creek in the Morrow Chapel (15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478) from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Graveside and Committal service will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery (12800 Westheimer, Houston TX 77077). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Charles’ name to Texas Christian University or Ft. Bend PAWS (www.fortbendpaws.org).
