In loving memory of Mary Belinda Horne who passed away peacefully on July 3, 2021 in the comfort of her home after a two year battle with cancer. Belinda was born in Houston, TX on September 8, 1959. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1978. Belinda married the love of her life George Horne in 1987, and they moved to their home in Sugar Land, TX.
Her greatest passion in life was caring for and loving her husband, children, and grandchildren. She took great pleasure in making our house a home in every way possible. She was the heart and soul of the family. Belinda was the planner, organizer and “boss” of all of our family get togethers. She loved and adored her children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. She spent countless hours volunteering to help with all her children’s activities throughout their school years.
She loved to laugh, be goofy, and have fun. She was so quick to offer praise and a hug. She was so giving and always put others before herself. She was the most loyal friend who you could count on for support. She was the most joyful person to be around and always had a smile on her face with a loveable laugh. She was the most positive cheerleader and would root for you to reach your goals. She was so accepting of others regardless of their differences.
Belinda was so loved by so many. She was always determined and never complained about the daily struggles and fears brought on by her terminal illness. When many would have broken, Belinda stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like, there was no quit in Belinda.
Belinda was preceded in death by her father Joseph E. Guthrie, sister Melna Guthrie, step father Dave Nahoun and nephew Jason Howard. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, George. Her four children are son David "Beau" Butler and wife Megan, son Steven Butler and wife Krissi, daughter Lauren McKinney and husband Ryne, and son John Horne. Her beloved mother Sadie Nahoun, brother Joseph Guthrie Jr and wife Shawneen, and sister Marguerite Howard and husband Bill, Judy and husband Darrell Troxler. Belinda has eight grandchildren, Cheyenne, Avery, Sutton, Halle, Rawlin, Mackston, Lucas and Stacie.
The family wishes to thank the Vantage Hospice staff for the love and care they extended to Belinda, they are angels on earth.
