ALICE L. CRAIG, was born July 5, 1918, to a Swedish family who found a home in Brady, Texas. Mrs. Craig passed away August 16, 2012, after living a long and rich life, full of family and friends. Attending Durham Business College, Mrs. Craig was a woman before her time. She was an independent young lady who worked as a stenographer who met the love of her life, an Army Air Corp pilot and war veteran, Jack B. Craig. Mrs. Craig went on in life to become a wife of a bank president, a wonderful mother and homemaker, a grandmother and great-grandmother. Alice lit up every room with her sparkling eyes, her brillant smile and her wit. She had a wonderful memory with a knack for remembering special dates and events, people's names and faces, and never forgetting to send her eloquent personalized birthday cards, highlighting her excellent penmanship. As an avid animal lover, there was not a dog or a cat who she would not pet, take care of or feed. Mrs. Craig loved shopping and watching football and cheered on her favorite team with her phrase, "Go Man go!" She was extremely generous, giving of herself to others, and so well liked by everyone, that she was called "Grandma Craig," by all, even if she was not related to them. Mrs. Craig made a permanent impact in all of the lives that she touched and will be deeply missed, but remembered through so many wonderful memories.
Mrs. Craig was preceded in death by her husband, Jack B. Craig, in 1989. She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Brown and her husband Richard, and Jane Sadler and her husband Robert; grandchildren, Kim Sadler and her husband Mark Stumhoffer, Kelly Sadler, Christopher Sadler, Lauren Ayers and her husband Chris, and Ricky Brown; great-grandchildren, Dylan Ayers, Logan Ayers, and Huck Stumhoffer; sister, Leona Holloway; and numerous nieces and nephews.
