January 24, 1929 – April 14, 2015
Rosalind Lawrence, 86, of Montclair NJ passed away on Tuesday, April 14th, 2015 after a long battle with dementia. It was her 64th wedding anniversary.
The youngest of four children (oldest sister Mildred, brother, Bernard, and sister Sylvia), Rosalind was a sister, daughter, wife, aunt, mother and grandmother. Born Rosalind Koppelman to Nettie and Max Koppelman, she grew up in Brooklyn, NY, where she met Herbert Lawrence, the love of her life. They married April 14, 1951.
Roz and Herb had three children; Andrew Mark died in December 1956 of meningitis. Daughter Tracey Sue and son Seth Adam both went on to marry and create their own happy households.
In retirement, Rosalind and Herb were snowbirds, trading their home in Brooklyn for a waterfront spread in Waretown, NJ and an ocean view apartment in Hallandale Beach, FL. They enjoyed a wonderful social life with friends and family, spending many happy times with their beloved grandchildren, Alex, Gregory, Jonathan and Michael.
Rosalind was widowed in July of 2004 and managed to live independently in Florida for a couple of years. After surviving a heart attack in 2006, she eventually lived with her daughter, Tracey and her son in law, Robert Bruning, on and off as her need for help and care required. In 2010, she moved to New Jersey permanently.
Tracey became Rosalind's primary caregiver and advocate as her condition declined. Her final residence was a group home in Montclair, where she received wonderful care and visits from her children and grandchildren. Her humor, strength and resilience enabled her to enjoy some quality of life despite her terrible infirmity. Her caregivers loved her dearly.
Those wishing to send flowers or gifts are encouraged to make donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association in Rosalind's memory: http://www.lbda.org/
