Robert "Bob" Rubin of Airmont, NY, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 14, 2018 at age 73. Born July 13, 1944 in Suffern, NY to William and Amelia (Borr) Rubin. After graduating Spring Valley High School he became a bank teller and worked his way up to one of the most respected and loved managers at M & T Bank in Monsey. Robert married the love of his life Elizabeth on Sept 9th, 1973. His infectious sense of humor and compassion for others made him loved by all who knew him. For the past 55 years, Roberts passion was being a member of the Rockland Hook & Ladder Company & Spring Valley Fire Dept. He was 1st Aid Lieutenant, treasurer for over 40 years, Honorary Chief, Fireman of the year and served on 2 building committees. Robert was one of the 1st EMT's in Rockland County and one of the original members to fly with H.E.L.P. (helicopter emergency lift program). He was the historian of Spring Valley and a member of the Nyack chapter of the American Red Cross.
Roberts greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his loving children Tammy (husband Michael) Candace and Sandra and cherished grandchildren Gabrielle, Katie, Jesse, Allison, MacLean & Jack. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Rubin and parents William and Amelia Rubin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15th from 9-11am with an 11am Funeral Service at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, Suffern, NY. Followed by a fireman procession to the interment at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rockland Hook and Ladder Company in Spring Valley.
