Richard Joseph Pregiato

Richard Joseph Pregiato, a longtime resident of Suffern and Sloatsburg, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 23, 2019. He was 62. Born March 14, 1956 in the Bronx, NY, to Richard and Frances, and brother to Michael and Angela who predeceased him, and survived by his brothers, James (Phyllis) and Steven (Cindy). He had a long successful career as a chef and business owner in Rockland, Bergen and Orange counties. His favorite pastimes included golfing, watching the Yankees, cooking for his family, and caring for his dogs. During his marriage to Debbie Pregiato (Selvaggi) he had 2 sons, Steven (Nicole) and Frank (Lauren) who were everything to him. He also leaves behind 5 beautiful grandchildren, Jake, Julianna, Luke, Gray, and Asher. He was a devoted friend to many. He will be loved and missed and never forgotten. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:45 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, NY. Entombment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont NY. Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home Inc., 177 Route 59 Suffern, NY 10901. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ASPCA.
