

Dr. Messieha was born in Cairo, Egypt, April 3, 1936 to Farag Salama and Hanem Abdel Shaheed. She graduated from Cairo University with a PhD in agriculture and went on to pioneer several groundbreaking research projects in both Egypt and the United States.
Her husband, Dr. Sobhy Zakaria Messieha, predeceased her in 1998. Dr. Messieha is survived by her children, Dr. Amany Messieha Dgheim of Suffern, NY and Dr. Zakaria Messieha of Glen Ellen, IL, their spouses, Dr. Hanna Dgheim and Mrs. Nahed Messieha, and grandchildren, Ms. Mary Messieha, Mr. Abraam Messieha, Ms. Vereena Messieha, Mr. Gregory Dgheim and Ms. Danielle Dgheim. She is also survived by her siblings: Mr. Nabil Salama of Toronto, Canada, Mr. Nagy Salama of Pomona, NY, Ms. Nawal Rizk of Naples, FL, Dr. Nabila Salama of Nyack, NY, Dr. Nahed Salama of New City, NY, Dr. Nazik Roufaiel of Saratoga Springs, NY and Mrs. Nora Fadl of New City, NY.
A private Coptic Orthodox mass will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, September 16, at the Virgin Mary and St. Pachomius Coptic Church of Stony Point, NY. Burial service will follow.
