Marilyn Gloria Fishman (Rosenbaum), of Suffern, NY, age 79, passed after a brief illness on May 6, 2018. Born in New York City to Murray and Dorothy (Citronbaum) Rosenbaum. She is survived by her two loving sons, Lawrence Fishman and wife Connie as well as Ian Fishman and wife Kim. She was married to Ira Fishman for many years. Left behind are also her two granddaughters, Stephanie and Allison.
Marilyn graduated high school in NYC. She received her Associates of Applied Science from Rockland Community College and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dominican College; and earned a Master’s of Public Administration, at C.W. Post College.
She was thrilled to become a Registered Nurse and began her nursing career. She was a dedicated advocate of home care and well known and highly regarded in the industry. She held many rolls during her long career. Marilyn helped develop the Home Care Nursing Program at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. Later, she became the VP of the VNA of Hudson Valley. After her retirement, Marilyn moved on to educate nursing students as an Adjunct Instructor at Mercy, Dominican and Pace Universities. Her dedication and devotion for nursing positively influenced many in the nursing field.
Family and friends were Marilyn’s passion and delight. Marilyn’s granddaughters were the light of her life and brought such joy to her. She was a dedicated and proud grandmother, traveling long distances to see her granddaughters play in sports or come to a school function. There was no other place she would rather be. Marilyn enjoyed traveling tremendously with friends on cruises and always had a great tan as a result. She enjoyed going away with her family to the Jersey Shore. Marilyn loved her community pool and became a member of the Pool Board. She was very social and enjoyed playing Mahjong, Canasta and going to plays in the city with her friends. Marilyn was most happiest being with family, extended family and friends. Marilyn touched the lives of everyone she encountered and will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901 on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 9:00am with a funeral service at 10:00am. The interment will follow at Mount Ararat Cemetery, Lindenhurst, NY.
