After a long and courageous battle, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that we lost a dear friend, sister, daughter, and a beloved mother. Marie E. Calixte, age 46 of Spring Valley, NY entered Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. She was born to the late Janet Calixte and Vilianie Cesar on July 5, 1973 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.
Marie attended Ramapo High School and continued her education at Westchester Community College. She was active in her school, community, and church. Despite her hectic schedule working in physical therapy, she loved to spend time with family and friends. She also had a strong desire to become a flight attendant so she can travel the world. Marie’s passions in life were dancing to good music, out-dressing her friends, and going to Macy’s to spray five different perfumes on. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her loved ones, especially over the holidays or any important milestone. For many years leading up to her passing, she collected a large library of magazines thinking they would be something of value. She loved to watch the news to collect facts and debate how the world could be better with God on your side. As of late, Marie was often found laughing loudly in her room while watching “Love and Hip Hop”.
Regardless of the physical pain of stage IV breast cancer, Marie brought endless joy and laughter to our hearts. She was a strong, private, stubborn, yet gentle woman with an amazing sense of humor. One would hardly know the toll and physical pain the disease caused Marie’s body, but she fought until the very end. Marie was blessed to witness her only child, Angie walk across that threshold as an accomplished college graduate. Oh, how her heart rejoiced that day to see her daughter receive her masters and hoped to be around to see the title “Dr.” in front Angie’s name. Marie was a very protective parent that gave long lectures, because she wanted her legacy to live on to have purpose and obtain happiness. This is a testament to the type of woman Marie was: an uplifting woman, who motivated everyone around her to succeed.
Marie is survived by her daughter (Angie), mother (Vilianie), and three siblings (Pierro, Shania, Guy); along with a number of other loving relatives and close friends.
The family wishes to thank everyone for attending the funeral service for our beloved, Marie E. Calixte. Words cannot express how much they are thankful for the expressions of sympathy, and all of the help everyone provided them during their moment of sorrow. They are truly grateful for your friendship and support.
