Kevin Patrick Meagher was born on April 22, 1930, to the late Thomas Francis and Sarah (nee Carvey) Meagher in Brooklyn, NY but raised in The Bronx. He is survived by his beloved wife Catherine Ann (nee O’Rourke) Meagher of 67 years. He was the loving father of Kevin, Taryn Cannon (Tim) and Colin, and grandfather to Kevin Cannon, Aedan Cannon, Maeve Cannon and Angelique Earley. Kevin is also survived by his brothers, Terry and Brian, and preceded in death by his brother Tom and his sister Eileen Boyle.
Kevin was a proud graduate of St. Anselm’s School and Cardinal Hayes High School before entering the Army during the Korean War. After his service, he graduated from Iona College and then became a member of the NYPD. His favorite assignment was patrolling Yankee Stadium during game days. Along with his father and uncle, Kevin helped start the NYPD Emerald Society Pipes and Drums. He was proud to contribute to this legacy of celebrating Irish culture in New York City and beyond.
He later joined Allstate Insurance Company and had a 30 year career in sales. After retirement, he parlayed his passion for golf and became one of the starters at Spook Rock Golf Course where he worked for over 20 years.
Everyone who met Kevin knew that he had a special gift for connecting with others. He had a way of making everyone he talked to feel like the most important person in the room. He filled every space with laughter and, of course, his Irish music. He never went anywhere without his fife.
