John Joseph Walsh, 85, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Victory House in Walterboro, S.C. Born in the Manhattan, John was the son of Daniel and Josephine (O'Sullivan) Walsh. Mr. Walsh was a WWII Navy veteran and had been employed in the insurance industry for many years. He retired to South Carolina where he enjoyed dancing activities with his beloved wife of 61 years, Veronica (Cunningham). He was also an avid reader and football fan. In addition to being survived by his wife, John is survived by his children, Veronica Chillino (Joseph), Kevin (Joan), Sean, Dennis (Andrea) and Brian and his ten grandchildren, Joseph and Jennifer Chillino, Brendan, Derrick, Sean, Carolyn, John, Nicolette, Anna and Michael Walsh. Additional survivors include his siblings James, Charles, Patrick (Rosemarie) Walsh, Joan (Jack) Foudy and Sr. Helen Walsh as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Predeceased by Mary(Parker) and Daniel Walsh. The family will receive friends on Sunday February 6 from 1-4pm and Monday February 7 from 24pm and 7-9pm at Wannamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, Rt. 59, Suffern, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Tuesday, February 8 at The Church of Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY. In lieu of flowers donation in John's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
