Joan M. Devine

Joan M. Devine, formerly of Suffern, NY passed away on October 21, 2023 at age 73. Joan was born on December 8, 1949 in Bronx, NY to the late John and Virginia (Sullivan) Reynolds. One of four siblings they moved around a bit, settling in Inwood (Good Shepard Parrish) became home. This neighborhood was so special to her and where she met her lifelong girlfriends and later husband Jack Devine. After marriage the lovebirds moved to Suffern, NY (Sacred Heart Parish) Where they enjoyed their remaining years together. They opened their hearts and family to their baby girl Kristin through Catholic charities adoption in 1978. Joan worked for Bankers Trust & Troll books, but her real passion was being a mother, then grandmother to Jackie and Ruben in later years. Joan was cared for lovingly in her later years by daughter Kristin, her son-in-law Ruben and her long term live/in aides Becky Nartney and Sophia Gyefour. She truly gave and received so much love in her lifetime.

Joan will have a mass and burial at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont followed by a celebration of life at Hearth and Tap in Pearl River.

She is survived by older sister Mary Lackowitz, younger brother Timothy Reynolds, daughter Kristin Devine, son in law Ruben Villagran, and grandchildren Jackie and Ruben

She was predeceased by husband John "Jack" Devine, brother Kevin Reynolds, niece Jillian Lackowitz

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, October 27th at 10:30am at the chapel at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Rd., Airmont NY 10952 with interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to New Paltz Rescue Squad emergency rescue service in Ulster County. They were instrumental in her care in her last days with us.
