Helen, the daughter of Damiano and Maria (Vitale) D'Emilia, was born in the Bronx on Oct. 27, 1927. She graduated from Columbus High School in the Bronx in 1945 and married Nicholas DelCasale on Oct. 15, 1950.
Helen actively volunteered at numerous community organizations throughout her life. She devoted time to St. Raymond's Day Camp (the Seals) as a specialty counselor for handicapped children, prepared hot meals for 75 home bound individuals with chronic illness under the auspices of T.O.U.C.H. of Rockland County, was a member of the Summit Park Adult Day Center and the Royal Arcanum. She had a passion for family, friends, dancing, laughter, music and life; and a deep love for animals. Everyone who knew her will miss her outgoing personality and joy for life.
Helen is survived by her beloved daughter, Donna DelCasale-Colon, son-in-law, George Colon, cherished grandchildren Nicole and Christopher DeNoia, and his wife Sandra, step-grandchildren Yvonne Bauer (Robert) and Brenda Colon, and great-grandchildren, Nicole and Robert Bauer. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas DelCasale, daughter, Caren DelCasale and her brother Frank D'Emilia.
Visitation will be held on Fri., Feb. 27, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rte 59, Suffern, NY 10901. A Mass of Roman Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Sat., Feb. 28, 2015 at St. Helena's Church, 1315 Olmstead Ave, Bronx, NY 10462, with interment to follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
