Giovanna Rocco De Vuono, born 21 June, 1937 in Agrigento, Italy, died peacefully on February 15, 2021.
Giovanna grew up near the Valle dei Templi, steeped in the archeology which became a lifelong passion. After marrying, she moved to New York and became an American citizen. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and friend but will be remembered as an adoring grandmother. Generous and kind, Giovanna brought joy to many.
Giovanna is survived by her daughter Maria De Vuono-Homberg, son-in-law Michael Homberg, grandchildren Bianca and Steven; her daughter Debora De Vuono-Sullivan, son-in-law Frank Sullivan, grandchildren Neil and Alexandra; her brother Luigi Rocco and niece Veronica. She is predeceased by her husband Lino P. De Vuono and her brother Gaspare Rocco.
The family plans to host a memorial service and celebration of Giovanna’s life in 2022 after the pandemic. She will rest at Ferncliff Mausoleum, Hartsdale, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Feeding America.
