My condolences to Doreen, his kids and the rest of Vance's family and friends. He was my roommate with Joe Terris at TKC for two years, 1977-79. I remember various chats we had over those years, and his appreciation of our friend Joe who went to be with the Lord in 1998, also too early. May God comfort all of you like 2 Corinthians 1 :3-4 so clearly describes, and the classic verse "To live is Christ, to Die is Gain". I was fascinated to see he also was a teacher, but not surprised, I ended up teaching chemistry for over 30 years starting in 1991 until I retired a couple of years ago.
To Doreen, my beloved wife Carol, died on July 7, 2023, so I will pray for God particularly to comfort you in the passing of your companion and love of your life. We will see our beloveds again, let us both be thankful for God's unique provision for both me and you.
I am thankful particularly is with our mutual friend Joe now as well, as Joe was my best TKC friend, and one of your dear friends too.

The night before George Vance’s and Doreen’s wedding, pa

This man was the real deal. He was larger than life in my eyes. I had the pleasure of having Mr. Shepard back in high school over a decade ago now (where does the time go?) for Television Production class as my teacher and let me tell you it wasn’t just learning how to write a proper screenplay that I took away from that class, but how to be an overall, well-rounded individual with the right mindset to succeed in life. Mr. Shepard was an amazing role model to me and to everyone and I can only hope his words of wisdom have impacted others in the same way that they did me. Rest In Peace sir. You will be dearly missed. You may not be here physically anymore but your spirit will forever live on.

As a student in Port Chester High School, it was always a pleasure for him to substitute for us. It was always nice hearing him and learning brand new things that are related to the class, or about other things in general. He would become one of my favorite substitutes at my time in the high school. There was so much information he would always give, and I would always find it interesting and even entertaining to hear all of it. His impact to me will be unforgettable, and I will always be grateful a man like him came to Port Chester High School to teach us.

I had the pleasure of working with George for 13 years and up to June 2022 ,when I would see him while he was substituting at the hs,  he always had something positive to say. George also taught 2 of my children at Port Chester High, he will be missed and fondly remembered!

Maria and I send our deepest condolences to the Shepard family on the passing of George. I had the pleasure of working with George for over twenty years. He was truly special for his unique ways and style of teaching. when my son reflects upon hid years at Port Chester he often states that Mr. Shepard was his favorite teacher. after I retired I met George at the school and I told him that story. He had tears in his eyes and felt joy knowing that a student felt that way. I once told told George he had the messiest desk at PCHS. He seriously began to show me everything on his desk the had meaning of it. I was impressed as we laughed at what it looked like. George was great for PCHS and it was a privilege to be his colleague .

George was a true Renaissance man with many interests. I worked with him at Port Chester High School and enjoyed speaking with him about history.  He was  very interested in the War of 1812.  I also fondly recall a wonderful class trip to Mark Twain's house in Ct.  George was a kind human being and a true gentleman.  He will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

I want to send my condolences to George’s loved ones. I worked alongside George closely my first year at PCHS. We were both on the English 12 team. I fondly remember him saying, “no one’s going to push this old man around!” And certainly no one did, for he was fierce yet also paradoxically so gentle, kind, and generous; he was a genuine gentlemen. I’ll always be grateful to him for the thoughtful gifts he bought for my children despite never meeting them. He always asked about them and in turn often spoke glowingly about his own family. He was sincere, creative, intelligent, rebellious, loving, and compassionate. I will miss him dearly: conversing with him in the hallways when he subbed at PCHS and seeing him weave in and out of traffic in his beloved bright yellow sports car on his way home to Rockland. The man is a legend and will never be forgotten. I cannot think of James Bond without recalling George’s fascination with him. Rest in Paradise, George! You left an indelible mark on me and countless others.

I worked with George for 20 years in PCHS and  had many interesting discussions on different topics.  George was a great guy and easy to be around.  He will be missed and I will forever think of George whenever I hear Dr. Who. Rest in Peace my friend.  My condolences to his family.

Worked alongside George for my first year at Port Chester HS which coincidentally was his last. Instantly became someone I made friends with. He would leave Indian Bollywood movies in my mailbox and leave the sign out form for me to sign them out from his library and we talked about film writing and screenplay writing. Really sad to see him go. Every time  he would be in the building subbing he would come find me and we would talk about his writing projects and the screenplay I was going to share with him that I wrote. He was a true gentleman and someone I look up to a lot. We would also talk about cars a lot and he even tailgated me one time on purpose which was hilarious because I was going to curse him out till I noticed it was him and he got a new yellow sports car! My condolences to all his friends and family!!!

George was a colleague, mentor, and best of all, a friend. Here we're enjoying a meal in sunny Miami at an educator's training for the IB film program the two of us would be spearheading at Port Chester High School. I'll always remember him as a kind and interesting man who was always a big kid at heart. My condolences and prayers to his family and friends.
