Emil (Paul) Streichert, longtime resident of Spring Valley, passed on August 18 at age 79. Born October 10, 1936 in New York City to the late Emil Richard and Laura Didier Streichert, Paul was a member of IBEW Local Union #3 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. He was a life member of the Hillcrest Fire Department for 56 years, holding many positions, including President, Captain of the Fire Police, President of the Rockland County Fire Museum, and President of the Fire Police Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1600 and the Groton Submariner Base. He married the love of his life Carol Dec on August 24, 1957. He is survived by his wife and seven children, Laura Streichert (Chris Roberts), Kristina Cousins (Norman), Karen Streichert, Jeffrey Streichert (Loretta), Richard Streichert (Lisa), Paul Streichert (Meg), and David Streichert (Vickie); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Daniel, Emily, Sarah, Jessica, William (Jodie), Jillian, Kristen, Zachary, Kaila, Kira, Maggie, Jack, Aidan, and Tyler; and great-grandson Marshall. He was predeceased by daughter Kathleen and sister Pauline Christiansen. Visitation will be held August 22nd (2-4 and 7-9 PM) at Wanamaker & Carlough in Suffern. Funeral services will be held on August 23 at 10:30 am at Grace Episcopal Church, Nyack, followed by interment at Loescher Veteran's Cemetery in New Hempstead.
