Duranord Veillard of Spring Valley, NY passed away peacefully on Friday June 1, 2018. He was born to Miciade Toulou and Tatice Veillard on February 28, 1907 in St. Louis Du Sud, Haiti, but grew up in Au-Cayes, Haiti. He married Jeanne Hermina Antoine on November 29, 1934. Duranord served as a judge for a
number of years in his hometown before migrating to the United States in the late 1960’s. He is predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 5 children, including son William Veillard (2002) and daughter Yverte Veillard (2015). Duranord was loved by many and as his pass-time loved to tell stories of his life journey.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne, children Hilda (Jean-Claude) Chatelain, Yolande (Andre) Eveillard, Vely (Regine) Veillard, and Franco Veillard. He is also survived by grandchildren: Lise, Carline, Stanley, Edward, Myrlande, Eric, Erold, Joanne, Yves, Pierrette, Edwin, Mitzi, Ted, Nismo; great-grandchildren: Raymond, Robert, Pearlene, Claudio, Jaydon, Amaya, Myrlande, Darius, Phoenix, Mahogany, Taylor, Elijiah, Liana, Adirianna, as well as ahosts on nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901 on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 4-8pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Anthony’s Church, 36 West Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY on Saturday June 9, 2018 at 11:30am, with interment to follow at Saint Anthony’s Cemetery.
