He was a graduate of Rice High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Denis also provided 30 years of service to the New York City Police Department in the 32nd Precinct. He was a member of the NYPD Emerald Society and the Honor Legion.
Denis was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Denis is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Kathleen (Linehan), his children Siobhan and Bob Dineen, Denis, Maura, John and son-in-law Jim Loftus. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kerry, Brendan, Katie, Colleen, James and John, and his sister Nancy Cashman. Additionally, he will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews. Denis was predeceased by his beloved daughter Kathleen Loftus, his brother Jim and sister Peggy Clarke.
Denis was an avid fan of the Rangers, Giants and Yankees. He was a loyal supporter of Suffern High School Hockey. Denis was a great story teller and was known for his Irish wit. He loved going back to Ireland to visit family and friends. Denis enjoyed his frequent lunches with the R.O.M.E.O’s at Katie’s Cottage.
Visiting hours will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901 on August 23rd and August 24th from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church in Sloatsburg, NY on Monday August 25 at 10:30am. Burial will follow at the Cemetery of Ascension in Airmont, NY.
