David Joseph “Dobber” Wilcox, of Sloatsburg, NY, passed away on November 13, 2024, at the age of 75. Born in Suffern, NY on March 19, 1949, to the late David A. and Deborah M. Rose, David dedicated much of his life to serving his community and loving his family.
A cherished member of the Sloatsburg Volunteer Fire Department, David proudly served for 51 years, a testament to his selflessness and commitment to others. Outside of his volunteer work, David was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. He found peace in nature and treasured the time spent with family and friends.
David was especially devoted to his nieces and nephews, whom he adored and loved dearly. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Wilcox; his brother-in-laws, Bruce Parliament (Florine) and Daniel Parliament (Joyce); nieces Jessica Diaz and Cris Freiermuth; nephew Daniel Parliament Jr.; as well as great nieces and nephews Max, Madison, Abigail, and Addison. He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Rose.
David’s kindness, loyalty, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of service, love, and dedication to his family will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A celebration of David’s life will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY 10901, on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10AM. Burial will be at Sloatsburg Cemetery following the service.
