Charles J. Picarelli, 79, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Queens to Blanche and Joseph Picarelli in 1945. He moved to Suffern in 1962, graduating from Suffern High School Class of 1963. A graduate of SUNY Farmingdale, he received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and earned his master’s degree from the University of Vermont.
Charlie’s devout Catholic faith guided him through his life and he served as Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church. He also served as a member of the Village of Airmont Zoning Board of Appeals for 20+ years.
Charlie married his high school sweetheart, Amy (Coletti) in 1968 and remained a resident of Airmont for 52 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Amy, his daughters Michele Nash (Thomas), Jeannine Condurso (Joseph), his grandsons Brandon, Nicholas and Matthew and his granddaughter Nicole. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, sister Antoinette (Toni) Ciccone and brother Joseph (Joey) Picarelli.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, New York 10901. A mass of Christian burial will occur Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 129 Lafayette Ave, Suffern, New York 10901. Entombment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, New Jersey 07430.
