Annette Alba (née Papiro), age 89, of Suffern, New York entered peacefully into the arms of our Lord on February 8, 2021. Annette was born on May 14, 1931, to Mary and Angelo Papiro (deceased). She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, where she graduated high school and attended vocational school at PS 149. She worked on Park Avenue in Manhattan as a cosmetologist before marrying her husband Anthony (deceased) on October 2, 1954. After raising her family, she worked for several years at various publishing firms, including Fleming H. Revell Company and Walden Book Company. She also dedicated almost twenty years to the volunteer grandparents program at the Orange County Correctional Facility, where she spent time interacting with children through book readings, games, and arts and crafts. Annette had a kind heart and blessed those around her with her gentle and caring spirit. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Annette is survived by her children Andrew (Pamela) Alba, Teresa (Joseph) Sorice, Marie Tripoli, and daughter-in-law Joyce Alba; her siblings Jerri Crescenti, Rita Chase, and Anthony Papiro; grandchildren Anthony Alba, Gregory Alba, Meghan Alba, Peter Alba, Andrea Alba, Matthew (Dana) Sorice, Christopher Sorice, Christina (Gary) Fernet, Michael Tripoli, and Nicholas (Mia) Tripoli; and great granddaughters Taylor, Mila, and Gia.
Annette was predeceased by her husband Anthony Alba, her beloved sons Stephen and Gregory, and her siblings Katherine Papiro, Lenora Medaglio, Salvatore "Frank" Papiro, Mary Larocca, and Gena Urbanowski.
A visitation (please adhere to all NYS DOH social distancing guidelines) for Annette will be held Monday, February 15, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, New York 10901. A mass of Christian burial will occur Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen The First Martyr R. C. Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, NY. An interment to follow will occur Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at St. Stephen The First Martyr R. C. Church Cemetery, Warwick, NY. A burial will occur.
