Annmarie Griffin

Ann Marie Griffin of Sloatsburg, NY died peacefully in her sleep at her home on March 26,2020 at the age of 82. Ann Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born in The Bronx to Philip and Bridget Smith on June 1, 1937. She grew up in Throggs Neck and graduated from St Pius High School. Ann Marie was predeceased by her loving husband Francis "Red" Griffin in March 2018 after 56 years of marriage. Ann Marie and Red married in 1962 and spent their early years of marriage in The Bronx. In 1971 they moved to Sloatsburg where they raised their family in the close-knit neighborhood of Pine Grove.Ann Marie devoted herself to providing a loving home for Red and their three daughters. In her later years Ann Marie cherished her role as doting Grandmother. Nothing made Ann Marie happier than gathering with her family and their wonderful lifelong friends from their neighborhood in Sloatsburg, The Bronx and the New York City Fire Department. Ann Marie is survived by her daughters Maureen Griffin of Sloatsburg, Jeanie and her husband Nick Huth of Chatham, NJ, Cathy and her husband Mike Eckert of Chatham, NJ and her six grandchildren Nick, Michael and Molly Huth and Kara, Griffin and Paddy Eckert. She is also survived by her loving brother Peter and his wife Maureen Smith of Greensboro, NC and her loving sister Patsy and her husband Hugh McManus of Concord, CA and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. A Christian burial with her immediate family will be held on March 31. A memorial mass and a celebration of Ann Marie's life will be held at a future date.
