Joan T. McCarthy, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 1, 2024. Joan was the wife of the late Pat McCarthy who died in 2017, and the ex-wife of the late James Leone, the father of her five children.
Joan was born on September 8th, 1935, in Waltham, the daughter of the late Zoel J. and Gertrude (Shea) LeBlanc. Joan attended Waltham High School. Through the years Joan worked many jobs to support her family, most notably as an overnight nurse’s aide and then later retiring from Intel after a 20-year career.
She was a resident of Sudbury, MA and of Rochester NH, where she spent many happy summers. She loved spending time with her family and friends and would help anyone in need. She was a self-proclaimed “Brat” and a fun-loving lady. She always had a corny joke to tell or a happy song to sing.
She is survived by her 5 children, Kevin Leone, Glenn and his wife Brooke Leone, Karen and her husband Gerald Horgan, Todd and his wife Annie Leone, and Lynn Leone; 7 grandchildren, Jacqui, Cristie, Justin, Ryan, Julienne, Shannon, and Landon; 4 great grandchildren, Ella, Rylee, Kaius, and Izabel. She is also survived by her Aunt Betty and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister Constance Kelly and brother Ronald J. Leblanc.
A Mass service is to be held at The Ascension Parish (formerly known as Our Lady of Fatima Church) at 160 Concord Rd, Sudbury, MA on Wednesday May 15th at 11:00 am.
Immediately following Mass services, a celebration of life will be held at The Maynard Elks Lodge at 34 Powder Mill Rd, Maynard, MA for close family and friends.
