Janet Ellen Hennessey (Adamson) of West Yarmouth passed away October 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving children. Janet was born December 14, 1930, in Newton, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late James and Melba Hennessey of Florida. Janet was educated in the Catholic schools of Newton Mass, graduating at the top of her class.
Janet married Robert Adamson of Gardner (deceased) and raised their eight (8) children in the town of Sudbury, MA. She is survived by all of her 8 children including Deb Adamson of Marlboro, MA, Rob Adamson and his wife Tammy of Southbridge, MA, Karen and Jack Helms of Cape Coral, FL, Pamela Anderson of Yarmouth, MA, Gary Adamson of Marlboro, MA, Scott Adamson and his wife Joanne of Hudson and West Yarmouth, MA, Jim Adamson and his wife Tina of Marlboro, MA and Joni Adamson of Boxboro MA.
She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren who brought tremendous joy to her life including Robert, Courtney, Jen, Jessica, Sarah, Christopher, Michael, Alayna, Tommy, as well as 7 great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by sisters Joan Eldridge, Lois Magennis and sister in-law Petie Hennessey. She is predeceased by grandson Stevie, brothers Jim Carmody and Tom Hennessey.
Janet worked in the insurance industry for many years earning awards for her performance with Allstate as a claims analyst before retiring. Prior to this, she perfected her baking skills at the Wayside County store in Marlborough, MA- creating a huge following.
However, if you were to ask her what her greatest achievement was, she would answer without hesitation- "her children.”
She was an amazing mom, grandmother, and great grandmother and loved her family deeply. Janet was a fan of the Red Sox, (more when they were winning!). She was an avid reader with an amazing mind and was a political junkie watching CNN faithfully. Janet would entertain conversations to test your knowledge, grammar and had a brilliant smile for everyone she met. Neighbors will miss her friendly wave as they passed by her home. Janet was passionate about a good storm, flowers and birds, naming each one as they landed on her feeders.
Her laughter, sense of humor, spirit, and intelligence were equally matched by her beauty. The world and our hearts are a bit emptier now, losing both a phenomenal woman and an amazing mother.
Visitation hours will be at Duckett Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral Service will be private.
