We are deeply saddened to learn the news from the mail recently.  Dr. Briddgemohan has been seeing my son for10 years... Time flies and I still remembered our first visit. Her kindness and guideness are invaluable.  Dr. Brighemohan is a gem to our son, and our family.  She will be missed greatly. Rest in peace.  

We were heartbroken to hear of Carolyn's sudden passing. She worked with our granddaughter, Sara  Cammarata, for a number of years, and will always be remembered as a loving, caring, warm, and supportive doctor, who gave us confidence whenever we saw her. We looked forward to those many visits, and Sara greeted her with a huge smile!! As everyone has commented, we will keep her in our memory always. Our warm condolences to her family and to the staff at Children's.

Our family is deeply saddened by the news of Dr. Bridgemohan's unexpected passing.  She helped our daughter Katie so much over the past several years. It was because of Dr. Bridgemohan that Katie finally got an Autism diagnosis and helped us obtain  the many hours of home services that she is still getting today.  We will be forever grateful for her loving care of our daughter.  We will miss her very, very much. I will always remember her and the very big impact she had on Katie's life.

Carol had such a profound impact on my son's life. There is no doubt he would not be the successful independent young man he is today without her fifteen years of treatment.

We are very saddened to learn about Dr. Bridgemohan’s passaway; we just found out in the mail today and we feel really sad, my son Nathan was diagnosed with Autism in another city and we visited Dr. Bridgemohan twice, she was very considerate and super kind; listened tentatively to our concerns and played carefully with my son to observe him while tried her best to comfort us and make accommodations  for our out-of-town arrangements. She was always on time and she asked another doctor to help us for his feeding issue and they worked together on my son’s case. We were looking forward to the next visit with her. Her kindness would always be remembered.

I am deeply saddened and shocked to learn of Dr. Bridgemohan’s passing. I had been a patient of her’s for many years. She was one of my favorite doctors and I used to always look forward to visiting her at Children’s! She would always greet me with a pleasant and warm smile in the waiting room. She was always amazed at how tall I would get with every visit. She would always take my thoughts and concerns into consideration, no matter how silly they were. She always understood where I was coming from and supported me every step of the way!  She would always offer great suggestions and feedback with anything I addressed. Our visits were always filled with laughter and conversation! It was always a pleasure to be around her kind and caring personality and especially her beautiful smile! 

I send my deepest condolences to her family and friends! I cannot imagine what you must be going through and will be thinking of you! 

Every time I visit Children’s, I will always think of Dr. Bridgemohan. I will think of the positive impact she had in my life and the amazing person that she truly was!

We're deeply saddened to hear about Dr Bridgemohan's sudden demise. We just received the letter from BCH notifying us about her passing and my husband and I just can't get over it. She was our daughter's behavioral pediatrician, but to us she was the BEST clinician! We've been seeing her since 7 years and knew that we were in the BEST hands. From the very first visit, we still remember her expert knowledge, attention to detail and yet very approachable personality. She would respond to every email that we sent her inspite of being so busy. 

I'm so saddened that God has taken such a beautiful person away from us. Our deepest condolences to her husband and daughters. 

My family feel very sad for your lost, Dr. Carolyn was my son’s pediatrician since she diagnosed him with Autism last year, I’m very grateful to have meet such a wonderful person, she was so kind and diligent, she helped me with all my concerns and needs, I saw her that day, if I had known this I would tell her how impressed I was with her job, how happy I was with her support in this difficult journey. We are deeply saddened to hear of your loss ; a loss to so many.
Dr. Bridgemohan was our son Patrick’s Developmental Pediatrician. We received his diagnosis in 2003 at BCH and she has been there helping guide us through this difficult journey ever since. We always looked forward to Patrick’s routine visits to Fegan 10 . Dr. Bridgemohan would greet us in the waiting room and immediately put Patrick at ease with her warm, beautiful smile; and put us ease as she intently listened while his dad and I shared our concerns. Her dedication went beyond seeing patients in her office, We attended many events where she spoke to families impacted by autism , I remember her sitting next to us in Fenway Park when the Autism (ARICA) bill was signed by Governor Deval Patrick - she was as excited we were!  She was responsive whenever we had questions; whether it was during an appointment or not . Her devotion and compassion for her patients and their families is something for which we will forever be grateful.
Her family is in our thoughts and prayers. We hope the many beautiful memories will help ease the pain.
 Whenever we think of how far our Patrick has come these past 17 years, we will think of her with love and gratitude  - she will remain in our hearts always ...

I am shocked and saddened to hear the news about Dr. Bridgemohan. As an employee of the hospital, I am vastly aware of her contributions towards the Autism community and how our hospital can best meet the needs of children and families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Although we did not work together, Dr. Bridgemohan had a tremendous impact on my family as she was my son’s developmental pediatrician. She’s been with us from his initial diagnosis and has helped us navigate various treatments, interventions, and therapies. Her infectious smile radiated the waiting room every time she came to meet Matthew. Our appointments were always thorough and meaningful. She always took the time to listen and answer all questions no matter how busy her schedule was. Her kindness, gentle demeanor, and delightful way about her made each visit feel comfortable. My son has made immense progress thanks to her exceptional care. I feel so fortunate she was the leader of Matthew’s care team and her impact will never be forgotten. Her legacy will continue through her co workers and those she mentored. Her extraordinary influence on my son and family will carry on as she has set him up for a lifetime of success. May you Rest In Peace. 

Carolyn - more memories than I can express in a way that do them justice: the dramatic play, always accompanied by the right music; the endless talking (with laughter of course) swinging on her hammock or sitting feet to feet in one of my window sills; the many adventures—drifting on lakes, hiking through backyards or the top of the alps, riding horses; the conversations that have connected us through time. Friends before birth because our parents were friends, my life, and who I am, cannot be imagined without her influence, her certainty, her creativity, her knowledge, her optimistic outlook, her undying presence. 

I am so very sorry that I cannot be there in person to celebrate her and her life with her family and friends. My heart goes out to Narine, Abby, Chloe, Marilyn, Anjali, Christine and everyone who has been blessed to have known her.

I am so sad and shocked to hear  of Dr (Carolyn) Bridgemohan’s sudden passing. She was my granddaughters doctor at Children’s for the past 13 years since she was three. We both loved and adored her as doctor and friend. The relationship we built over the years was truly special.  She was supportive and helpful to both of us when we asked for her help. I don’t even know how we are going to find someone that is even close to her kindness. I am so sorry to her entire family. I can’t even imagine your sadness in losing such a beautiful mother, daughter, wife and sister.

Narine, Abby, and Chloe, I am sorry beyond words for your devastating loss. I am heartbroken. Carolyn was an amazing woman in every way possible and excelled at everything she did.  She had a brilliant mind and was such a dedicated clinician, educator and scholar. We worked and played together over the years on so many projects and in so many venues --SDBP, AAP, ABP, MCHB-- and I can't imagine any of these without her. My favorite memories will be of the fun we had at impromptu parties in our rooms at meetings (and after meetings)-- drinking wine, laughing, and talking about almost everything under the sun. Carolyn was a wonderful friend to me and I am going to miss her forever.

We are deeply saddened by Carolyn’s sudden death.  Our families met when the girls were babies and we all supported each other through the first two years .  I will treasure the memories of the baby playgroup.

[Part 2/2]   Even beyond supporting me professionally, Dr. Bridgemohan was also a personal cheerleader of mine, always encouraging me to experience life to its fullest. I can still remember how excited she was when I first told her about my boyfriend in college – she was beyond thrilled that I too had fallen in love with my dance partner. I was looking forward to introducing him to her at the SDBP Conference a couple weeks from now, and I have no doubt that she would’ve had a blast dancing at our wedding. Even though this is sadly no longer possible, Dr. Bridgemohan will forever remain a bright reminder to me that I do not need to choose between a successful career in medicine and having a beautiful family of my own someday. 

I wish I could have thanked her one more time for all that she has done for my brother, my family, and me. Although I can no longer train under her as I had always dreamed, I will carry all that she has taught me about medicine, life, and most importantly, the power of compassion wherever I go. 

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to her husband and two beautiful daughters – may our memories and prayers ease you through this difficult time. We will miss you dearly, Dr. Bridgemohan. May you rest in eternal peace.


[Part 1/2]   Dr. Bridgemohan went above and beyond her calling as a physician in the 15+ years that she cared for my younger brother. She understood a child’s Autism diagnosis affects each member of a family, and as such, she served as a pillar of support for every one of us in different ways. Even though I was also young when my brother was diagnosed, I quickly learned that the doctors couldn’t treat him with a simple pill or surgery. And yet, I had the privilege of observing the way in which Dr. Bridgemohan could ease my parents’ worries during their appointments and help my younger brother navigate this world successfully despite experiencing it so differently than the rest of us. With her beaming smile and words of encouragement, my entire family always left her office feeling lighter. In this way, she inspired me to pursue a career in medicine.     

Over the years, Dr. Bridgemohan not only cared for my brother with unparalleled compassion and helped my family grow comfortable with his condition, but she also celebrated all my greatest milestones with me and my family. When I was in high school, she and her mother-in-law attended my arangetram—a South Asian classical dance debut performance—which she proudly raved about every time I saw her thereafter. While in college, I went on to shadow her in clinic, which allowed me to witness the incredible connection she had with all of her patients and their families. She was always so supportive of my desire to be a developmental-behavioral pediatrician someday, writing countless letters of recommendation to colleges, scholarships, and medical schools for me throughout the years. With her guidance and blessing, I am now in my third year of medical school in D.C.

Some people don't just live life...they illuminate it. I had the privilege of meeting Carolyn at Boston University Ballroom Dance Team. Her passion for life...tremendous... and the love story that unfolded with Narine... EPIC. I'll never forget them dancing with baby on board and Narine tenderly rubbing her swollen feet...just one of many sweet signs of his devotion. There's is a bond that can never be broken.

Carolyn was such an incredible person to so so many people. She was passionate and dedicated. Her smile lit up the room - and she smiled because she loved what she did and she did it with passion. She was a huge role model to me for so many reasons - she wasn’t just a smart, meticulous, and generous clinician who was incredibly dedicated to her patients and to her colleagues. She was more.  She was strong, confident, never shy to speak up, but always diplomatic, and because of this she was leader in so many ways. She pushed for meaningful change - "let’s create an Autism Spectrum Center that is a collaborative effort across departments”  and then “our patients deserve a better experience when they come to the hospital - let’s train all the staff so they are better prepared to help patients with autism” - the list keeps going, and people listened, and then she made it happen - no small feat at a big place like Boston Children’s Hospital. We happily met (and will continue to meet!) every month at 7:15am to discuss and implement plans to create lecture series, training programs, workshops etc. etc. because her passion and dedication was infectious. What Carolyn started I have no doubt will be a permanent part of BCH and will continue to grow because it was built from love with great thought and care, that brought people together who will continue to work for what Carolyn believed in.

I hope you hear from some of the families she cared for - she was beloved in way that is hard to explain, other than to say there are hundreds of families who will feel a bit lost without her. She was a natural teacher and I am so grateful to all that I learned. I had been counting on asking her my tough questions for many many more years, because she always had the answers. I will miss her dearly for a long long time.

Carolyn is (now in spirit) my oldest and dearest friend. We started our friendship at age 5, spending almost a decade of imaginary play together, creating theatrical performances and always making art. Later we road horses together, took riding lessons and horse showeds together.  We were outstanding members of our 4-H  club together!  Carolyn always told me she will be a doctor, I believed her easily! She excelled at all levels of schooling and extra curricular activities such a dancing. Carolyn’s dynamic engaging  personality and lover of life was balanced with her razor sharp focus of her medical calling. Carolyn’s almost regal humility, with such kindness and grace, gave us all a sense of peace, acceptance and safety while in her presence.  Years later Carolyn became my colleague and mentor, while excelling in our mutual field of pediatrics. I was always in so much awe of her! Always in a state of amazement at her rigor, grit and enthusiasm in what she does in her world of Autism research, education and intervention. Carolyn worked with a fever of a genius that knows how precious time is to do the research, publications, lectures, work with families and their child.  Her work was Always at an elevated level of excellence, working long days and commuting into Boston, day after day for over 20 years.... Her devotion truly is one of a saint and a medical geniuous. Carolyn’s devotion to her family and friends and her devotion to her work was no doubt immeasurable and outstanding.  The world just lost one of its brightest brightest stars...her work, her love, her devotion,  her grace and her humility will live in our hearts forever. Thank you Carolyn, for your life time friendship, the joy you’ve  given me all these many years; and thank you for the incredible service  you’ve provided for every family you’ve helped and to the advancement, understanding and treatment of Autism through out the world.  Thank you Carolyn! May You Rest In Peace My Beloved Bright Star!!💗💫✨

Part 2/2: Because of Carolyn, I have good relationships with many of my patient's teachers and therapists and they will often contact me directly with concerns, which allows me to be able to stay on top of their care.  I now know the value of getting frequent feedback from them, and this level of care deepens my relationship with my patient and their caregivers, which I am able to convey to trainees who work with me as well.  I have been able to participate in the DMC writing group, and Carolyn was always ready with thoughtful feedback and kind encouragement. We have also been able to collaborate on several shared patients over the years, and she is always a pleasure to brainstorm with.

Although I was not able to work as closely with Carolyn as I had in the past when I was an NDD trainee, I feel very blessed to have been able to learn from her and I know for a fact that my time with her has made me the clinician that I am today.  The impact that she has made at BCH is immeasurable and I am grateful that I got to experience it directly.

I will miss her smiling face, her warm hugs, and her thoughtful encouragement so, so, so much.  If I can approach not only patient care, but life in general, with the kindness and grace that Carolyn did, then I know I will have done a great job.  


Part 1/2: Carolyn is beyond amazing as a human being with unparalleled kindness towards everyone that she meets.  I am going to try my hardest to make it back to Fegan 10 from Martha Eliot this AM, but I do want to share this in case I don't make it.

Since I had the pleasure of working with Carolyn in the DMC during my NDD residency and beyond, and my experience working with her has shaped my approach to patient care.  In residency, while working with her I learned the value of gathering information from as many people as possible to understand your patient.  She always encouraged me to be thorough and to gather information from teachers, day care providers, etc. in order to gain a true understanding of my patient and how to best support them.  I remember thinking that this was overkill and I worried about the amount of time needed to do this, particularly as a trainee.  But over the years, I have become deeply grateful for this lesson and I will always truly be indebted to her for this.

As recently as a few years ago, just after I returned to Boston as an attending, I remember seeing her and just casually chatting about life and work.  I brought up a family who asked me if I could observe their child at school, as I was unsure whether or not this girl met criteria for autism.  I thought it could be nice, but I brushed it aside, because it felt like a significant request and I wasn't sure it was feasible.  But Carolyn, ever the optimist, thought that it could be a really great opporunity.  When I worried about the time required, she simply replied "I know it would be a lot, but imagine how much you would learn!"  And she was right.  As soon as I saw her at school, it was plain that she didn't meet criteria for autism.  

I am so sorry to hear this news. Carolyn, Julie Driscoll, and I lived near each other and often played together, and I remember them from Fairbank Elementary as well. We became Bluebirds together and later Camp Fire Girls. I pray for comfort and good memories for her family and friends in the days ahead ~ Carol Small Hardman

Words cannot describe how much Carolyn will be missed. She was at the heart of our"church lady" group that became my source of support after moving to Sudbury.  I will miss sharing the joys and challenges of raising children together.  Dispite her amazing career, her children were her proudest accomplishment.  My heart goes out to her amazing daughters.  She is leaving Abby and Chloe way to early but,gave them such a strong start which shows in their budding bright futures.

This is incredibly sad and a huge loss to us all. She had so much energy, passion and dreams for herself, her family and the field. I have enjoyed working with her through the years. She was so vibrant and a leader and excellent teacher and educator, steadfast friend and incredibly selfless. I will be keeping her entire family and friends in my thoughts and prayers. She will be missed by so many.

Dr. Bridgemohan inspired our son, her patient,  to become a physician. And, she helped us understand that his diagnosis need not be something to fear. Carolyn is one of my most beloved attendings and mentors in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. She was my attending in fellowship and taught me innumerable lessons in medicine and in life. I admired her dedication to her family while managing a successful career in academia. One of my most cherished memories with Carolyn is dancing with her every year at our specialty’s national conference. At last year’s conference, Carolyn and I were dancing and having a blast. I said to her, “Look around the dance floor Carolyn. You’ve taught and trained over half the folks on the dance floor!” She threw her head back and laughed and said, “Yep. You are all my kids, too.” I miss her so much and am just devastated. My prayers are with her girls, her husband, and her family.  I’m so thankful to have had Carolyn as such an amazing mentor and friend.
