Hawes, Alice E. (McGovern), of Sudbury and Marston Mills, died peacefully, Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 surrounded by her devoted family. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Richard, a retired Sudbury Fire Captain. She also leaves six children: Kathleen Hawes of Wrentham, MA; Marcia Swenson and her husband, Richard, of Bellingham; Betsy Mele of Newport, RI; Richard Hawes and his wife, Donna, of Marlboro, VT; Jennifer Michels and her husband, Stephen, of Hudson; Deborah Davin of Townsend, MA . Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and her two sisters; Jean Henderson of Sarasota, FL and Marion Zulliger of Lima, Ohio. Most recently Alice was a valued employee of Emerson Hospital in Concord and at Lady Grace in Hyannis. She loved to laugh and was always an avid story teller. Her love and commitment to her family was without equal. She was the bright center of many lives and will be missed dearly by all her family. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Nov. 11, at 11:00 am at the Sudbury United Methodist Church, 251 Old Sudbury Rd., Rt. 27, Sudbury Center. The Reverend Jordan Shaw will officiate. Visitation will be Thurs., from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Duckett-J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd., Rt. 20, Sudbury.
