Born October 11, 1939 in Lexington, Virginia she was a daughter of two loving parents, Herman Wilbert Hall and Rosa Dale Hall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred “Ben” Earl Tomlin; one brother, Peachy Wilbert Hall; and sister, Carolin Hall Nicely.
Shirley left school to help provide for her family. She enjoyed growing up in a big family surrounded by five siblings. There were many things that she loved: cooking, board games, Fox News and Trump but the thing that she loved more than anything else was her family. After meeting the love of her life Winfred “Ben” Earl Tomlin she started her own family.
Survivors include her two beautiful daughters, Debbie Tomlin Lawson and Teresa Tomlin Mize; four grandchildren, Tony Sorrells, Shea Lawson, Brandon Mize, and Justin Mize; two great-grandchildren, Garland Gage Sorrells and McKenna Mize; siblings, Iva Sue Hall Zollman, Rosa Marie Hall White, and Martha Hall Flint; and a number of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
She will be missed by her family and friends. They all had one thing to say about her “Shirley Jane Hall Tomlin was a great woman, sister, mother and friend but most of all she was the greatest Granny that any one could ask for.”
A private service will be held for her at Oak Lawn Mausoleum & Memory Gardens, Staunton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Stuarts Draft.
