Born January 11, 1926, in Vesuvius, she was the daughter of the late James Ester and Viola Brooks Bradley.
Mrs. Cothren enjoyed gardening, flowers, working puzzle books and being with her family especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandson, in which she was called Maw Maw, Grandma and Grandma Butter. She will be remembered by family and friends as a sweet, caring, loving and independent woman.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Harris, second husband, Raymond Fitzgerald and third husband Wayne Cothren; sons, Ray Harris and Raymond “Gabby” Fitzgerald; brothers, Howard, James, Charles, Ray, Russell, Bobby Bradley and Franklin Brooks; sisters, Louise Lucus, Ocie Bradley, Gladys Harris, Ole Mae Thompson and Leona Murry; great-granddaughter, Kierra Bottenfield.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda and husband Walter McManaway, Sr., with whom she has lived with and been taken care of by for nearly five years; son, Roger “Pete” Fitzgerald and wife Joyce “Faye” Fitzgerald; daughter-in-law, Sheila Harris all of Stuarts Draft; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Panse of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Kelvin Harris and wife Tonia, Ronda Bottenfield and husband Boyd, Brandon and Trevor McManaway, R.J. Fitzgerald and wife Amber, Ryan Fitzgerald, Nicole Fitzgerald and fiancé Timothy Mantooth, Jamie Davis and husband Josh and Renee Clark; great-grandchildren, Danielle Napier, Arkadia Bottenfield, Austin and Jacob Fitzgerald, Jordan Harris, Addison Einhorn, Paige Benson, Courtney Chambers, Linzie Davis, Mason Packer; great-great grandson, Bentley Napier; brother, John Bradley and wife Hilda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Hwy, with Pastor Dennis Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Steels Tavern. The family has asked that those who attend Mrs. Cothren’s service please dress casual.
Active pallbearers will be her grandson’s, Brandon and Trevor McManaway, R.J. and Ryan Fitzgerald, Kelvin Harris and Benjamin Napier which whom she thought of as a grandson.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her children.
