Lester Hobert Roberts

Lester Hobert Roberts, 79 of Montebello, VA. Passed away November 20th, 2024 peacefully at his home. Lester was the son of the late Walter and Agnus Roberts of Wise, VA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Gracie Bolling, Gladys Cox, Marie Miller and Annette Roberts; as well as two brothers, Robert Roberts and Everette Roberts; and a son in law, Jeremy Campbell. Lester leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Roberts; and four children whom adored him, Gregory Roberts (Crystal), Teresa Weeks (Tony), Melinda Campbell and David Bryant. He is also survived by six Grandchildren, Trevor & Austin Roberts, Jessica Hildebrand & Matthew Weeks, and Leanna & Nathan Campbell. Lester also leaves behind three great grandchildren, Bryce & Cameron Hildebrand and Walker Roberts; as well as a very special pet, his “little girl” Delilah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lester proudly served his country as a soldier, and is a veteran of the United States Army in which he served selflessly in Vietnam. After returning to this area, settling, and beginning a family, Lester began his career with the U.S. National Park Service from which he retired in 2008 after 35 years of service. You could always find Lester active, whether it be farming and working around home, or within the community. He proudly served with the local Montebello Volunteer Fire and Rescue. He participated in most community activities and was known as the local repairman for small equipment and machinery for friends and neighbors. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Fred Salmons on Monday, November 25th, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, (7140 Irish Creek Rd, Vesuvius, VA) with the family receiving friends 1 hour prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be Trevor Roberts, Austin Roberts, Nathan Campbell, Matthew Weeks, Ricky Bryant, Douglas Bryant, Phillip Myrtle, and Michael Kegley. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, nieces and nephews.
