John David Smith Sr.

John David Smith Sr, of Stuarts Draft, VA passed away on December 14, 2021 in Conway, SC with Davy, Tony, Stephanie and Cody. John was born in Augusta County to the late James Roy & Helen Brown Smith on August 21, 1939.

John graduated from Wilson Memorial High School and he retired from DuPont with 40 years of service. John was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Stuarts Draft and was dedicated to the food pantry for 8 years.

John was married to Dora Hudson and had two children, John David Jr. & Tony Ray. He was also married to the love of his life Kathy Westfall and had one child, Timothy Lane. His first two wives preceded him in death.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Smith, and two nephews Curtis Allen and Chip Stratton.

John is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith; his sons, John & Roxanne of Belfair, WA, Tony & Stephanie of Conway, SC, Timothy & Becky of Gordonsville, VA; his step children, Michael Surratt & Lisa, Teresa Huffer & David, Greg Swartz & Melissa, and Angela Fleshman; sisters, Nancy Allen and Mary (Joe) Kennedy. John is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and his two favorite fur buddies Moose and Bo who will miss him dearly.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11 AM at Calvary United Methodist Church with Pastor David Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday December 17, 2021 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church.
