Mr. Lowery was born on June 21, 1959 in Waynesboro, and was a son of the late Johnnie Calvin and Charlene Mae (Hatter) Lowery. After graduating from high school, David worked for Mullins Slaughterhouse, then worked for many years as a Brick Mason for Johnnie Dedrick. He later retired after 20 years as a Boilermaker for the Boilermakers Union. David was an avid Bear and Deer hunter. He also loved camping.
He is survived by his son, David Travis Lowery of Waynesboro; siblings, George Franklin “Frankie” Lowery and wife Vickie of Stuarts Draft, Wanda Lee Mays and husband Kenny of Stuarts Draft, Richard Lee “Ricky” Lowery and wife Cindy of Stuarts Draft, Russell Dean Lowery and Tammy of Love, VA; faithful friend, Arlena Lowery; special friend, Kenny “Bubby” Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, James Calvin “Junior” Lowery; and nephews, Chad Mays and Nick Lowery.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday July 1, 2021 at 10 AM at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Thomas “T” Key officiating. Burial will follow at Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
