He was born in Rockingham County on March 6, 1928, a son of the late Birdie (Ritchie) Teter.
Carl proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a machine operator for Stanley Furniture for 42 years until retirement. Going to the airport and watching the planes was a favorite hobby of his.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma “Sue” (Brown) Ritchie; daughter, Carol Alice Curry and grandson, Charles Ritchie.
Survivors include his daughters, Viola R. Harman, Diane F. Lockridge and her husband, Ronald “Luke", and Janet K. Sorrell and her husband, Fred , all of Stuarts Draft ; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 4517 Rockfish Rd, Grottoes. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
