Betty Gibson

Betty Virginia (East) Gibson, 76, of Stuarts Draft passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021 at her home. Born December 3, 1944 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Carl William and Lucille Virginia (Glenn) East. Betty was a faithful member of Stuarts Draft Full Gospel Church. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, going to yard sales and shopping at the flea market. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Willard Gibson, Sr. Survivors include her two children, Claude Willard Gibson, Jr. and wife, Vera of Stuarts Draft and Cindy Harmon of Stuarts Draft; brother, Carl Frederick East and wife, Catherine of Verona; grandchildren, Michael Dwight Harmon, Stephanie Mae, Kari Brown and husband, Levi, and Kristin Brady and husband, Clifford; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Bower, Ethan Brown, Owen Brady, Isaac Brown, Madison Gaines, Michael Brady, Grayson Brown, and Roman Brady; and special goddaughter, Kelli Castillo. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Sherando United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Levi Brown, Clifford Brady, Steve East, Bill Trice, Walter Bowie, Vernon Driver, and Wayne Snow. The family would live to give a special thank you to her nurses, Laura Craig Sims and Megan, with Hospice of the Shenandoah for their love and care of Betty.
