William was born in Albany, New York on October 21, 1921 to the late Margaret LaPointe and William I. Wolf.
William married his high school sweetheart, the late Mary Irene Stahl Wolf on November 22, 1945. They celebrated 64 years of marriage together until Mary Irene passed away in July 2010.
William attended Blessed Sacrament grade school in Albany, NY. He served as an altar boy for their church. He also attended Vincentian Institute in Albany, NY where he enjoyed being in the band and also was a soloist for their dance band. William also attended Siena College, Loundonville, NY.
He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served his country in WWII both in Northern Africa and in Italy. For years, William was an active member of Knights of Columbus, the Thomas B. Flynn #1035 American Legion Post and the Forty and Eight (Voiture#348).
He worked for the New York State Department of Transportation as a civil engineer until his retirement in May 1983.
William is predeceased by his three sisters, Margaret Stevens; Rita Romanzo; and Catherine Wolf, who died as an infant.
He is survived by two daughters, Suzanne and her husband, J. Michael O’Brien of Boynton Beach, FL and Mary Katherine and her husband, Tim Oldemoppen of Hobe Sound, FL and a son, William J. Wolf and his wife, Julie of Hernando, FL.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Christy and her husband, Patrick Condon of Charlotte, NC; Cynthia Clemente of Loudonville, NY; Thomas A. Clemente and his wife, Kristen of Amherst, NY; Michael Wolf and his wife, Kerry of South Windsor, CT; and Casey Oldemoppen of San Diego, CA.
He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Sophia, Aiden and Liam Condon; Tom, Aden and Emily Clemente; and Jack, Alexa, and Brooklyn Wolf;
In addition, he is survived by his step-grandson, Shane O’Brien and his wife, Bianca of Boynton Beach, FL and their children Valentina, Melanie, and Alessandra O’Brien. William is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date in the Spring.
