My courageous little brother Ronald “Ronnie” Catana went to rest in peace with mom and dad in the kingdom of our Lord on May 31st, 2020. Ronnie was born on February 26th, 1954 in Camden, New Jersey. He retired after 26 years with the NJ Dept. of Transportation. He knew all aspects of road construction, but best as a heavy equipment operator. Ronnie loved those “dozers.” He moved to Florida in 2008 to be near his sister Barbara Ruge and brother Fred C. Catana. He really enjoyed family gatherings with nieces and nephews. Although he suffered very serious health issues over the years, it could not keep him from working. He joined the Florida Dept. of Transportation in 2010 until forced into disability in 2015. And all during his times with both DOT’s, he drove limousines at night and earned a 5-year pin from Lowe’s stores. Besides his sister and brother, Ronnie leaves behind a devoted brother-in-law Ron Ruge, sister-in-law Eileen Catana, his gracious daughter Tara Casella, his beloved Aunt Rita, and a long list of the best cousins anybody could ever wish for (you all know who you are). Ronnie was a very proud Free Mason, earning Master Mason status on November 4th, 1994 with the Collingswood NJ Cloud Lodge and then transferring to Acacia Lodge in Stuart Florida. Ronnie followed the Shriners Scottish Rite order of Freemasonry. As a member of the Motorcycle Corps of Crescent Temple, Trenton NJ, he proudly represented the Shriners in community parades. But most of all, he treasured his volunteer service to driving disabled children and their parents to the Shriners Hospital in Tampa for treatment and particularly sponsoring a child named Jessica. A man with a huge heart, Ronnie lived a simple life of modest means, and gave away any savings to those he felt most in need. He was among the Shriners Children’s Hospital 100 Million Dollar club. Ronnie’s ashes will be combined with those of his beloved dog Roxy, per his wishes. A Masonic Funeral Service to say goodbye will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 13 at Acacia Lodge #163, 20 SE Osceola Street, Stuart 34994 for Mason brothers, family and friends.
His loving “sis” Barbara.
