Born in Chicago, IL, Mr. McCann had previously lived in Homestead, FL before moving to the Stuart area in 1990.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and fought in the Pacific War during World War II.
He was an electrician, and had been a member of the IBEW Local 728 since 1952. After retirement, Mr. McCann, along with his wife, Kerstin bought The Sewing Mart in Stuart, which they owned until 2008. He loved to bowl and fish, and you could easily find Mr. McCann cheering on his favorite teams, the Miami Dolphins, the Marlins or the Chicago White Sox.
Mr. McCann is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kerstin Bond-McCann of Stuart, FL; daughter, Patricia Steeb (Roger) of Portland, OR; son, Robert McCann (Minnan) of Saugus, CA; daughter, Barbara Stein (Stuart) of Santa Fe, NM; son, James McCann of Avon Park, FL; son, David McCann of Canyon Country, CA; grandchildren, Matt, Sam, Jessica, Mike, Matt, Nichole, Jackki, Erik, seven great grandchildren; stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Julio) Garcia of Stuart, FL; stepdaughter, Elizabeth McCord of St. Augustine, FL; stepson, Colin McCord of St. Augustine, FL; step grandchildren, Diana, Alexander, Nicolas, and William.
He is predeceased by his brother, John McCann.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 1:00PM-2:00PM with a funeral service to begin at 2:00PM.
